Fashion and waste: Polygreen recycling plant became a location for new ROUSSIN brand shooting

Ukrainian brand ROUSSIN presents a new fashion project “Waste – inexhaustible valuable resource of the future”, which emphasizes the role of waste in human life.

The brand team shot the new collection at the Polygreen recycling plant, which is the largest polyethylene processing plant in Ukraine and a part of the Biosphere corporation. Polygreen has become a location for the perception game: ROUSSIN models have identified themselves with plant workers and joined the polyethylene recycling process to show the value of the people responsible for planet’s resources.

Waste, being an unnecessary and constantly renewed mass, can be turned into a raw material for production thanks to technologies. For our ROUSSIN brand, sustainable fashion is, first of all, an innovative approach to the use of resources. We create products from the collection from reflective pieces and production residues intended for recycling. We revive defective fabrics with the author’s painting, transforming the canvas into a unique picture in the form of unusual bows and original accessories” – comments Sofia Rusynovych, designer and founder of ROUSSIN brand.

Every month, Polygreen turns 800 tons of polyethylene waste into raw materials for production, and with the help of design solutions, recycling becomes an art object of the fashion industry and draws public attention to a more responsible attitude to natural resources.

By our example, we want to show that it is time for Ukrainian business to treat waste as a resource – for the sake of preserving the planet and sustainable economic development. We see great potential in polyethylene recycling, and common projects with Sofia Rusynovych help us to communicate our position creatively”, – comments Yuriy Golyanych, General Manager of Household & Recycling at Biosphere corporation.

This is not the first collaboration between ROUSSIN brand and Biosphere corporation. In September 2020, during Ukrainian Fashion Week 2020, Sofia Rusynovych presented her sustainable fashion collection, where she used Biosphere products made from recycled materials. The project illustrated the recycling concept: polyethylene waste is recycled into granules, new products are created from these granules, and thanks to Sofia’s creative solutions, defective production materials are transformed into a clothing collection.

Biosphere Corporation supports initiatives related to responsible production and consumption on the way to the implementation of sustainable development strategy. New Go Green product line by Freken Bok combines eco-friendly products created with respect to environment.
