Biosphere Corporation has launched a spunlace nonwoven production in Ukraine

Biosphere Corporation has launched a spunlace nonwoven production for wet wipes in Dnipro, Ukraine. The first test launch was made at the end of January 2022.

This is a unique and outstanding greenfield project for Ukraine that meets the highest international standards. The plant was built and launched in 1.5 years in cooperation with the world leading suppliers and experts from France, Italy, Turkey, and Germany. Own spunlace will secure the availability of high-quality raw materials for Biosphere’s production of wet wipes.

The Andritz-supplied spunlace line will enable Biosphere to produce fabrics from 30 to 70 gsm, with an hourly output of up to 3000 kilograms after the second commissioning phase. Start-up is scheduled in two stages – the first one in the first quarter of 2022 and the second in early 2023, when it will reach full production capacity.

“Biosphere Corporation has vertical integration of production. The high-capacity spunlace line will double the company’s current production capacity and is designed to process various types of fibers, such as polyester/viscose blends and natural fibers. It is dedicated to the production of household, medical and hygiene fabrics, such as cosmetics, disinfecting, and baby wipes. Our goal is to carry on creating innovative and premium-quality products” – Andriy Zdesenko, founder and CEO of Biosphere Corporation, said.

Investments in the project amounted to 21 million euros. Such outstanding investments in the Dnipro region are a guarantee of economic development and increase the competitiveness of the region and Ukraine. They stimulate business activity, create new workplaces, develop a modern production and logistics infrastructure, which in turn leads to the development of the entire adjacent territory.
